The
plastic vacuum forming is a technique that consists on giving form by
means of heat and vacuum to a plastic sheet that can have any thickness
and color, to manufacture body parts, fender, roofs, cabins of airplanes,
windows, windshields, etc.
The chassis of transparent polycarbonate (unbreakable material) that
are used in automodelling, vacuum formed in a single piece that then it is
clipped and painted are very well-known.
This part of the course explains all the homemade techniques that exist
in order to build the molds that can be needed (with aluminium or epoxy
resins, being able also to use wood and even plaster) and simple machines
that any modelist can assemble. The tools that it is convenient to have
are: manual saw, files and hand or bench drill, not being needed lathe
neither any other machine tool.
